I, Sarah, do hereby raise Jo Beverley to The Pedestal.
My reasons are:

I have just recently discovered her novels and I am delighted by her consistency. Her novels are historically accurate and the sexual tension sizzles in all of them! Bravo! I look forward tthe next with bated breath.

My reasons are:

By Deanna Raybourn. Great Victorian mysteries, no sex, lots of sexual tension. And Nicholas Brisbane.

I, Karen, do hereby raise My Lord and Spymaster by Joanna Bourne to The Pedestal.
My reasons are:

Another great historical masquerading behind an Avon Romance type cover. In anyone else's hands this would be just a romance between a fleet owners daughter and a fleet owner/ship captain. It's a lot more exciting and colorful in Bourne's hands. Adrian Hawkhurst and Doyle are back as secondary characters and you learn a little more about Adrian who is now Head of Section.

I, TC, do hereby raise Lover Enshrined, JR ward to The Pedestal.
My reasons are:

I thoroughly enjoyed this book - there are debates as to whether this is paranormal romance or not, and for me it is, as Phury and Cormia do find their happy ever after....besides, in a reading world where so much is the same, this was so different it blew the scale!

I, Sarah, do hereby raise The Two Dukes of Wyndham by Julia Quinn to The Pedestal.
My reasons are:

I love everything Julia Quinn has ever written, and this book is no exception. The characters are well defined and very likeable and the storyline is light and fun without being insipid. Ms. Quinn consistently turns out delightful novels and I continue to be impressed by her work.

I, Violet, do hereby raise Lord of the Fading Lands by C.L. Wilson to The Pedestal.
My reasons are:

Just don't be put off by the prologue, which is a little confusing at first--it will all make sense as you keep reading. The author creates a richly built fantasy world. Rain is both king of the fey and soul-linked to the tairen (powerful winged cats). His people (both the fey and the tairen) are dying. To save them, he must find his truemate, the one woman meant for him. I would characterize this book as both epic fantasy and paranormal romance. Just so you know, the story doesn't end at the end of the book. It continues in "Lady of Light and Shadows." (I get the sense that the two were originally meant as one book, but were published separately to keep the page-length more manageable. Each book is about 400 pages. But I love a long, page-turner of a book that gives me my money's worth, which these do.) Now that I've fallen in love with Rain and Elly and their world, I can't wait to read more. According to blurb at the end of "Lady of Light and Shadows" two more books are due out later this year. I can't wait. (I say again, I can't wait. Alas, I must.) If you gobble up books like I do and love fantasy romance, then you won't be disappointed here.

I, Lynn, do hereby raise Blue Eyed Devil by Lisa Kleypas to The Pedestal.
My reasons are:

I am so grateful this wonderful historical writer decided to try her hand at writing contmeporary romace. This is her second, a sequel of sorts to her first. It was amazing!!!! Emotionally wrenching, incredibly hot, and moments of tenderness so sweet it'll make your heart ache. I adore this book and author!!!

I, Sarah, do hereby raise Just Listen by Sarah Dessen to The Pedestal.
My reasons are:

When my fifteen year old niece handed me this book and said "you'll like it", I had my my doubts. This book had an amazing message to send to teenage girls, it lets them know that they are not alone no matter how much it feels like they are. It hopefully sends across the message that there are always people willing to lesten, if they are willing to talk. Which is something everyone needs to hear (especially young girls, right?). Not only did Ms. Dessen manage to send this message in a heartfelt manner, she gave the story the closest thing to an HEA I have seen in a YA novel.

I, Violet, do hereby raise the Mercy Thompson series by Patricia Briggs to The Pedestal.
My reasons are:

Has anyone put these books on the pedestal yet? I absolutely love them. Love, love, love them. Yes, I am gushing. And yes, they are about werewolves and vampires and the fae, which is so very popular in romance right now that it's hard to distinguish one series from another. But this series stands out from the others. The books center around Mercedes Thompson who is a walker (a Native American magical being that can shift into a coyote). I love reading such a strong female lead. In many ways she is an outsider: She works a nontraditional female job (she is an auto mechanic) and was raised by werewolves (there are no other walkers that she knows of). This makes her a great observer (the books are written in the first person). Her status also means she is nonaligned and able to interact freely among the various supernatural communities (a good setup for sequels). There are three books so far: "Moon Called," "Blood Bound," and "Iron Kissed." (I love this series so much that when "Iron Kissed" was published, I reread the first two books first.) There is also a related story, "Alpha and Omega," in the anthology "On the Prowl," which is about a secondary character from "Moon Called." (Charles's story continues in "Cry Wolf," which is due out later this year. I can't wait to read it.) The author, Patricia Briggs, really does her research for these books, and as a reader, I appreciate that so very much. From all I've read, she really gets the nature and biology of wolves and the historical folklore correct. So far, and very important, the momentum and storytelling have been sustained in each book. The author has not slacked off or gotten complacent in the plot, characters, or writing. That also makes me want to keep reading this series, I hope she keeps it up. One final note: With such a crossover of romance and SF/F these days, I don't know in which section of the bookstore these books get shelved, but if you love romance and find them in SF/F, don't discount them (and fantasy readers don't discount them if you find them in the romance section). They are worth a read (and even a reread).

I, DeniseM, do hereby raise Vampire Interrupted by Lynsay Sands to The Pedestal.
My reasons are:

Okay, I know. I raised the last Argeneau book, too. But this one topped it. All I can say was it was the absolute perfect wrap-up of the three-month book trio. I was surprised by the twists and who the villain turned out to be. No spoilers from me, though. Just loved this book! I highly recommend the whole series. Very entertaining.

I, Sarah, do hereby raise Meljean Brook to The Pedestal.
My reasons are:

She has created a world that is so complex and compelling that I cannot stay away! I tired because as a Christian I wanted to repulsed by the idea of an angel falling in love with a demon in the first book, but the story line was so intriguing I kept coming back. So I read the second book, I just fininshed the third and I am madly in love with this series, I could not put this book down! HOORAY FOR MELJEAN BROOK!

I, weathergirl23, do hereby raise Suni's Gift by Anne Rainey to The Pedestal.
My reasons are:

This is so unusual for me. I never read menage books and rarely ebooks, but this one was a lovely surprise. It was hot and romantic both. The love between Ross and Suni is sweet and real. Plus I couldn't resist a story with a hot firefighter!

I, DeniseM, do hereby raise The Accidental Vampire by Lynsay Sands to The Pedestal.
My reasons are:

This is the only book I've read this year that I raised, maybe I'm getting harder to please. This was such a fun book. It centers around Elvi, who was changed to an Immortal (their preferred title since they aren't really vampire-like). She knows nothing about it except what she has "learned" from the vampire books and movies she and friends have watched. The whole town is in on her secret and friends even advertise to try and find her some "vamp" friends, which is a huge no-no in the immortal world. Enforcer Victor is sent to investigate and what follows is a wonderfully fun romantic tale of friendship. LOL funny at times and very touching, you won't be sorry to pick up this book. But read the entire Argeneau series. They are all well worth your time.

I, mimi, do hereby raise Nalini Singh's Psy-Changeling series to The Pedestal.
My reasons are:

Wow. Just wow. I'm not usually super into paranormal romances, but these have been keepers for me, and I'm eagerly awaiting #4 (or 4.5, I guess...) I'm sucked into the world, the drama of good-vs-evil-vs-"it's complicated". I like how she can write strong male and female leads, who are strong without stomping all over each other, and the falling-in-love is not just an afterthought like so many authors today. Well done!

I, Tricia, do hereby raise Untouched by Anna Campbell to The Pedestal.
My reasons are:

It's one of the best books I've read this year. A hero to die for and a heroine you can respect. Even if you didn't like her prior book, CLAIMING THE COURTESAN (though I loved it as well), I encourage readers to give this one a try. Dark, compelling, and ultimately satisfying.

My reasons are:

Jules has been one of favorite characters in the Troubleshooters series since he was first introduced way back when. I'm so glad he got his HEA. While his story did reel into the sappy at times and I did feel I was being preached at a little, but maybe we need it. I loved Jules and Robin together. Thank you Suz!

My reasons are:

Whether you're hurling a book or raising it to the pedestal, I always find great honest suggestions and opinions -- either to read a book or to avoid it like the plague. On these pages, I have discovered new books and authors thanks to your pedestal raising suggestions. And I have had my opinion validated when others have thrown a book I hated faster than a major league pitcher. So thanks to all of you. We may not always agree, but I appreciate your candor. You certainly deserve the pedestal.
