I, ljj, do hereby raise Since the Surrender by Julie Anne Long to The Pedestal.
My reasons are:
I read the book straight thru the day I got it. I'm liking her Pennyroyal Green series. Each book gets better. Just enough viewpoint from both hero and heroine.

I, Violet, do hereby raise Not Quite a Husband by Sherry Thomas to The Pedestal.
My reasons are:
I'll admit I'm a reader who enjoys characters' sufferings--and who loves suffering along with them--when it's done well. And it's very well done here. I needed many a hanky for this book, but it was worth it. The emotions and obstacles ring true. (There is the requisite Big Misunderstanding That Snowballs, but the lack of communication that could have solved it fits the Victorian setting. Briony and Leo, being who they are, could have acted no differently.) The language is exquisite--you will savour the geographical metaphors used to describe the characters' emotions. Sherry Thomas has done it again. I loved it!

I, ljj, do hereby raise Patricia Briggs's "Mercy Thompson" series to The Pedestal.
My reasons are:
I love her kick-ass herione and her great alpha males. My problem is that I want a story devoted to every character in her books!

I, sarah, do hereby raise The Duke of Shadows by Meredith Duran. to The Pedestal.
My reasons are:
Please.
Stop.
Reading.
This.
Run, run, run to get this book!
It is by far one of the best historical romance novel I have ever read. Majestically written plot and breathtaking settings, so very different from the run of the mill, H/h that you believe in.
I was really swept away with the poetic imagaries... but fear not, no purple prose in sight, no cliches...
Please do yourself a favor, clear up your schedule, get this book !

I, Trina S., do hereby raise Angels' Blood by Nalini Singh to The Pedestal.
My reasons are:
I bought this book on a whim. Best impulse buy this year!! I really liked her use of the dark and tortured hero. I hope she stays with these characters in the rest of her books. I have a few unanswered questions and can't wait for her next book.

I, Joyce, do hereby raise Glitter Baby by Susan Elizabeth Phillips to The Pedestal.
My reasons are:
I didn't read the original book that came out in the 80's but Ms. Phillips has certainly made this edition better with a re-write what ever she did. The book is poignant & funny, obviously well-researched & I read it pretty much in 1 sitting. Could not put it down. Jake & Fleur will be everyone's newest fav hero/heroine & I'm betting that this one will be at the top of the best of 09 reading lists.

Bravo to Miss Bourne !
ps-It's a shame that the book cover is so cheesy though...

I, Karen, do hereby raise Books by Cherry Adair to The Pedestal.
My reasons are:
I first read Night Fall, one of Adair's "Nigh" series books featuring a counter-terrorist operative (Simon Blackthorne) who is also a wizard. Oooh! Magic and spies and romance, oh my! and great dialogue, excellent locations. I quickly picked up the rest of Adair's books and am having a mini-Adair marathon slash binge.

I, Joyce, do hereby raise Jules Watson's Dalraida books to The Pedestal.
My reasons are:
They are so very well researched & involved. If you long for a thrilling Scottish historical family saga in a series, that takes place during the time of the Druids these books will hook you from the first one. They are:
The White Mare, The Dawn Stag & The Boar Stone. She has a new series starting in January '09 with The Swan Maiden. Can't wait for that one!

I, Sarah, do hereby raise His Captive Lady by Anne Gracie to The Pedestal.
My reasons are:
I have yet to read an Anne Gracie novel that I did not love! His Captive Lady has romance in spades and loads of sexual tension. I cannot wait for the next book in this series which started with The Stolen Princess.

I, Courtney, do hereby raise Th Bound series by anna windsor to The Pedestal.
My reasons are:
It's a fantastic trilogy! All the books came out almost at once, which is awesome no waiting year after year and the paranormal plot was really good without taking anything out of the romance. Great Read!

I, Janel, do hereby raise YOU to The Pedestal.
My reasons are:
You keep me from wasting money on "Craptacular" books that cost $7.99 but aren't worth a damn! Keep reading and reviewing! BTW the last good book I read among sooo many bad ones was: "Never Romance a Rake" by Liz Carlyle.

I, Karen, do hereby raise My Lord and Spymaster by Joanna Bourne to The Pedestal.
My reasons are:
Another great historical masquerading behind an Avon Romance type cover. In anyone else's hands this would be just a romance between a fleet owners daughter and a fleet owner/ship captain. It's a lot more exciting and colorful in Bourne's hands. Adrian Hawkhurst and Doyle are back as secondary characters and you learn a little more about Adrian who is now Head of Section.

I, TC, do hereby raise Lover Enshrined, JR ward to The Pedestal.
My reasons are:
I thoroughly enjoyed this book - there are debates as to whether this is paranormal romance or not, and for me it is, as Phury and Cormia do find their happy ever after....besides, in a reading world where so much is the same, this was so different it blew the scale!

I, Sarah, do hereby raise The Two Dukes of Wyndham by Julia Quinn to The Pedestal.
My reasons are:
I love everything Julia Quinn has ever written, and this book is no exception. The characters are well defined and very likeable and the storyline is light and fun without being insipid. Ms. Quinn consistently turns out delightful novels and I continue to be impressed by her work.

I, Violet, do hereby raise Lord of the Fading Lands by C.L. Wilson to The Pedestal.
My reasons are:
Just don't be put off by the prologue, which is a little confusing at first--it will all make sense as you keep reading. The author creates a richly built fantasy world. Rain is both king of the fey and soul-linked to the tairen (powerful winged cats). His people (both the fey and the tairen) are dying. To save them, he must find his truemate, the one woman meant for him. I would characterize this book as both epic fantasy and paranormal romance. Just so you know, the story doesn't end at the end of the book. It continues in "Lady of Light and Shadows." (I get the sense that the two were originally meant as one book, but were published separately to keep the page-length more manageable. Each book is about 400 pages. But I love a long, page-turner of a book that gives me my money's worth, which these do.) Now that I've fallen in love with Rain and Elly and their world, I can't wait to read more. According to blurb at the end of "Lady of Light and Shadows" two more books are due out later this year. I can't wait. (I say again, I can't wait. Alas, I must.) If you gobble up books like I do and love fantasy romance, then you won't be disappointed here.
